Well after two and a half years, the day has finally come to close down the Forums. It came into consideration a month ago due to the large amounts of spam that had overrun the Forums. As you know, we do not encourage spam at Towey Software and we’re always trying to fight against it. Apart from the spam, we found that the Forums aren’t actually necessary as any help & support needed can be emailed to us via. the “Contact Us” page.

We will continue to create our software community with a different approach in the near future but for now, we are focusing on providing even better software. We hope you can understand our decision as it’s only for the best.

We haven’t said much recently. Here’s why:

Our founder, Rhys Towey has been very busy dealing with a private urgent matter out of the business. Rhys inspects everything made by the team before releasing into the public view to ensure the files are safe. Meaning without him nothing can be released apart from Social Network updates. Rhys should return to Towey Software very soon and leaves the following message “Dear users of Towey Software, I apologise for my unannounced absence in the company but something urgent has interrupted me from my work. No worries, I will be back soon and have some great new ideas to share!”.

Although Rhys is currently absent, this doesn’t mean we have stopped working on the company (As you will find out more soon!). 

What’s the latest news on Towey Speedster then?

Well over the past two weeks we have done:

- Added a Live Updater. A much improved version of the one used on Towey WebSurfer that automatically searches for updates and is more secure.

- Security Updates. More reliable.

- New ways to speed up the PC. Wahooo!

- Better design. Making Towey Speedster look even more beautiful than it already is!

A question we hear a lot from people, Why is it taking you so long?:

Towey Speedster first came to decision back in May 2010. To be honest, the reason it is taking us so long to finish is because we are a team of students making the Software. This means that we don’t get to work on the software all day like any other business therefore we can only work a few hours a day. What’s worse is that from now to the next two weeks time we are all caught up in important exams. We will still be working with the Software and Towey Software in general but it means for only around a hour as the rest of the time will be revising and doing hard work!

We apologise for the wait but Speedster should hopefully be worth it.

We still expect Speedster to release mid-December.

Good News! Towey Speedster is on it’s way.

Up to now we have been working hard on Towey Speedster to include as many features as we can. Adding the Live Update part took the longest amount of time and is a much more improved version of the Towey WebSurfer Live Updater.

We are now just checking for any bugs or issues and adding more graphics to the application as well as creating the homepage for Towey Speedster.

You can expect us to release Speedster just before Christmas.

Well you may be asking yourself “When is Towey Speedster coming out? It’s October already!”. Well yes, it would have been released now but along the way there were a few problems that concerned us..

As we said in our previous post, Towey Speedster would be expected to release by now. But during the Software testing we discovered a few problems that could make the application unsupported and dangerous towards the Windows XP operating system.

This is because a lot of the features are designed for newer Operating Systems such as Windows Vista and Windows 7. For example, XP doesn’t have the Aero theme such as Vista and 7 so therefore could damage the Operating System by attempting to create values for Aero that don’t exist. The application already detects the running Operating System and checks if it’s safe to proceed but we are not willing to risk data damage.

So whats going on now? Well we are still testing and scanning through the software to make sure it’s safe. We cannot give a exact date of when Speedster will be released but keep checking back!

So basically, We are not allowing Operating Systems under Windows Vista  and 7 until we are 100% sure it’s safe. We cannot give a date of when Speedster will be released and keep checking back for updates.

Our Software Developer, Rhys Towey sent us a screenshot of Towey Speedster’s possible final view design. After months of planning and research here is the result:

Rhys says: “This is the design from the planning. It could change at any time during the development. You can expect the release in late September or early October 2010.”
